When Cecil Bishop began Bishop Aviation in California, he pioneered the concept of internally lighted instrument technology, using the catch phrase “Fly By Night.” That was back in 1970. A few years later, during a cross-country flight, Cecil happened to need re-fueling and stopped off in Hot Springs, Arkansas. “I literally flew over and loved the look of the land,” says the Korean War veteran and dedicated family man.

The rest, as they say, is history: Bishop Aviation relocated to Arkansas’ Diamond Lakes region to become Hot Springs’ premier family-owned and operated aircraft instrumentation components and prototype manufacturing facility, with three generations employed in all facets of the company.

Cecil, though retired, comes by nearly every day to oversee operations at Bishop Aviation – when he’s not out fishing and enjoying the beauty of the Natural State. Cecil’s sons Greg and Andy; daughter Missy; daughter-in-law Dee; and granddaughters April and Stephani are all on board, making Bishop Aviation part of the bedrock of America: a true family business. Bishop Aviation gives back to the community in many ways, including participating in Arkansas’ annual Komen Race for the Cure as the “Pink Barons” team.

Specializing in aircraft instrumentation casings, housings, lenses, wedges, bezels, dies, and molds, Bishop Aviation ships to such clients as: Eaton; Sigma Tek; Hawker Beechcraft; Mid Continent; United Instruments, and the Department of Defense.

Bishop Aviation is more than avionics: we offer a complete tooling and fabrication facility that takes YOUR prototype design to create a product from start-to-finish, thanks to the latest in computerized drafting, machining, injection molding – even silk-screening the final product’s logos, colors, and brand.

From a two-dimensional design to a three-dimensional finished product, Bishop Aviation is building on its reputation as an Original Equipment Manufacturer to diversify in an increasingly digital-oriented world. If you can dream it, the Bishop family can make it!
