Bishop Aviation is a leader in the field of precision ground and polished Plane parallel (plano-plano) lighting wedges as well as injection molded optical grade clear plastic lighting wedges.
Our standard wedges are available in 2 and 3 inch and may be configured according to the following:
Plastic: 2 inch and 3 inch
Glass: 2 inch and 3 inch
Antireflective Coatings available for glass wedges per:
- MAG = MIL-C 675 (Magnesium Flouride)
- HEA = MIL C 14806 (Multi layer Coating)
Our Glass Fabrication department specializes in flat cover glass for instrumentation. Glass may be manufactured to customer specifications, e.g. any shape, holes, notches, or anti-reflective coatings. Many standard lenses are available and custom requirements will be quoted on request. Our glass shop is capable of cutting cover glass a minimum diameter of 1.75", maximum of 3.5" diameter, drilling holes and cutting flats.
Standard tolerance on the diameter is ± .000/-.010.
Thickness Range:
- .050"-.070"
- .071"-.084"
- .085"-.101"
- .115"-.134"
Anti-reflective coatings per Mil-C-14806 and Mil-C-675 are available. Please provide diameter and thickness, a print or sample glass when order or requesting a quote.
Note: A setup charge is applied for quantities less than 25 ea. per line item.
Bishop Aviation, a pioneer in internally lighted instrument technology, has expanded to include manufacturing of LED (Light Emitting Diode) lighting for aircraft instrumentation. More energy-efficient than incandescent and fluorescent bulbs, LED lights have the advantage of a longer working life, expanding the life of the product by 4-5 times. LED lighting emits no heat; this “cool-to-the-touch” technology represents an advantage over incandescent bulbs that can cause instrumentation panel lenses to crack over time due to heat emissions of 200 degrees.
LED technology adds a life expectancy of 50,000 hours to the lighting component. LED lighting, while producing a whiter light, uses less electricity -- about 1/5 of the electricity used by standard incandescent bulbs.
Avionic Light Trays are designed for 2" and 3" aircraft instrument assemblies, and may be configured according to the following:
Voltage: 5V, 12V, 14V, 24V, 28V
Filter Boots: Blue White, Beech Green, Clear, Candle Yellow, Red
Housing: Flanged, Non-flanged
Circuit Board: (.062 Thick)
Wiring: Length and type are configured according to customer needs.
